Thorofare Volunteer Fire Company

We are an all volunteer organization established in 1910 to provide fire protection to the community. Through the last century our role has evolved and expanded.  We now provide marine rescue, confined space rescue, industrial rescue and industrial firefighting in addition to basic structural firefighting and extrication services.

We work closely with the three other township companies and Gloucester County EMS to provide an integrated response to types of emergencies in West Deptford Township. When necessary, we use mutual aid plans to call upon other area emergency service providers to bolster our response. Thorofare Volunteer Co. No. 1 was formed and continues to exist for the sole purpose of serving the community. We plan and train diligently to be ready to address and safely resolve any emergency that might face our community.

Two nights of Extrication Drills

On the Nights of May 12th and 26th, Thorofare Fire Company and Paulsboro Fire Dept., drilled together and practiced with both companies,  techniques of vehicle extrication. The nights got a chance for everyone to try out different equipment from the local mutual aide companies, and the techniques of removing a vehicle from a patient. Paulsboro also got a chance to try out some brand new equipment, recently purchased for their rescue, from a brand new air bag system. On May 12, both companies work together to learn the basics of vehicle stabilization. On the 26th, crews proceeded to get a little more in depth, with the proper techniques of removing doors, roofs, and full side removals. Continuing to incorporate the lessons learned from the first night of training.
